The first region match of the season was played Wednesday night at Sprayberry High School.  The Golden Lions came out victorious by a score of 25-11, 25-14.  In set one, early kills by sophomore Landry Hess and junior Claire McEnaney with strong offensive serving got the team out to a quick start and they never looked back.  Set two was a closer affair with a 12-12 tie until senior Tyler Andrews stepped to the service line.  She ran off 10 consecutive point including 5 ace serves for the match.  The team finished with 10 aces for the second time this season, three of those from junior Anna Pattaras as well.

The second match of the night was against a strong offensive Wheeler team that came in at 11-2 for the season.  The Lions kept the pressure on through most of the match with a strong balanced offensive showing.  McEnaney had 5 kills on only 6 sets and sophomore Courtlyn Richard added 5 of her own to the effort.  It was enough to make it hard for the Wildcats to get their strong attack on track.  11 assists and some strong setting from junior Eveliina Campbell kept the Wheeler defense on its heels most of the match.  In the end it was a 25-19, 25-17 victory for St. Pius X.

The team is next in action this Saturday when they play 5 matches at Providence Christian Academy.
