In a match that saw each team fight back from match point for the opponent, St. Pius X defeated Druid Hills in a best 3 of 5 region semi-final match 3 sets to 2.  The final score of 25-22,25-21,24-26,19-25,16-14 was as close as a volleyball match can get.  The Lions had a chance to put it away in 3 straight sets when Druid Hills fought back match point to win the last three points and set 3.  They forced a fifth set by winning set 4 and got within one point of a reverse sweep when St. Pius X was able to take the final three points for the win.  When sophomore Isa Bernardo put the final kill to the floor their Lions celebrated the biggest victory to date.  The team was led by freshman Landry Hess, whose 25 kills in the match put her into the schools all time top five hitting performances.  Sophomore Eveliina Campbell played one of her best matches, picking up 31 assists, 13 digs, 4 aces and a couple of key dump kills.  Senior Libero Sofia Ziran added a season high 22 digs and 51 serve receptions.  The team moves on to the region finals on Thursday night against #1 seed Marist.  The match will be at 7pm at Marist following the conclusion of the concellation match.
