Tonight, in game 1 in the best-of-three first round of the GHSA AAAA State Playoffs, the Golden Lions shutout the Perry Panthers 5-0 at Spellman Field. 

Colton Sumpter '27 (7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 SO) pitched a complete game shutout to earn the win. 

Offensively, St. Pius X was lead by Andrew Biggers '28 (1-2, 3 RBI, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 BB, 1 SB), JP Apgar '26 (1-1, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 BB), Pete Kostopoulos '27 (0-0, 2 R, 2 BB, 1 HBP), Charles Ashe '25 (1-3, 1 RBI, 1 SB), and Logan Lucas '25 (1-3).

The win was the 30th of the season, which sets a new school record. The second game of the series was postponed due to weather to Thursday, April 24 at 12 Noon. If necessary, game 3 will immediately follow.
