Alumni Playing Professional Baseball
Chandler Simpson ’19 plays outfield for the Tampa Bay Rays. During the 2025 season, he hit .295 with 122 hits, 15 doubles, 3 triples and 44 stolen bases (tied for second most in MLB). In 2024, he led all of Minor League Baseball in stolen bases (for the 2nd consecutive season) and participated in the MLB All-Star Future Game. He played for the University of Alabama Birmingham (2020-21) and Georgia Tech (2022) before being selected in the 2nd round of the 2022 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays.
Quincy Nieporte '13 plays for the High Point Rockers in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Previously, Quincy played in the Oakland Athletics, Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Phillies organizations. In 2022, as a member of the Erie Seawolves (Detroit Double-A affiliate), he was named the Most Valuable Player of the Eastern League (.270 avg, 31 HR, 91 RBI, 25 2B). Quincy hit a home run in his last collegiate at bat for Florida State in the 2017 College World Series. He was the first St. Pius X alumnus to play in the College World Series.

JP Apgar '26 will be playing at Rhodes College this fall.
Charles Ashe '25 had a great freshman season (2026) for Grambling State, hitting .299 with 7 HR, 46 RBI and 10 doubles.
Taz Butler ’21 was drafted in the 10th round of the 2026 MLB Draft by the Houston Astros. He is currently playing for the FCL Astros. In his senior season at Kansas State, he struck out 58 batters in 55 innings. Prior to being drafted, Taz was playing in the MLB Draft League.
Charlie Capretta '24 made 14 appearances for Georgia College & State University in 2026, striking out 19 batters in 15 innings.
Michael Dee '25 played for Georgia Tech in 2026. He is transferring to UNC Charlotte this fall. He is playing for the Green Bay Rockers in the Northwoods League this summer.
Liam Ebbs '24 had a great sophomore season (2026) for Lafayette College, hitting .318 with 4 HR, 9 2B and 21 R. He is transferring to Wofford College this fall. This summer, Liam is playing for the Mankato MoonDogs in the Northwoods League.
Grayson Granberry '26 will be playing at Berry College this fall.
Tate Henderson ’22 graduated from Oglethorpe University in 2026. He had 3 wins and 1 save for the Stormy Petrels this season.
Charlie Hendrix '24 is a pitcher at Georgetown University. He was 2-1 with 21 SO in 35.2 innings in 2026 for the Hoyas. Charlie pitched for the Sanford Mainers in the New England Collegiate Baseball League during the 2026 summer.
Jack Herring ’21 finished his collegiate career by helping East Carolina win the 2026 American Conference championship. He hit .344 with 9 HR, 51 RBI, 17 2B and 57 R. He was named ABCA/Rawlings Second Team All-Atlantic Region and American Conference Baseball Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Daniel Hong '24 is an outfielder at Berry College. He hit .333 with 6 RBI and 11 runs scored during his sophomore season in 2026.
Charlie Kapp ’22 hit .306 with 7 HR, 34 RBI, 39 R and 6 doubles this season for Motlow State. He will be a junior at Columbus State this fall (2026).
Matt Navarro ’22 made 14 appearances for USC Beaufort in 2026. Over the past two seasons, Matt struck out 60 batters in 78.1 innings pitched for the Sharks.
Agyei Quinichett ’21 pitched in 19 games for North Carolina A&T in 2026, striking out 37 batters in 37.2 innings. He is transferring to the University of Richmond for his senior season.
McKale Stevenson '25 appeared in 7 games for Belmont University in 2026 (2.78 ERA, 22.2 IP, 20 SO).
Will Tippett ’22 finished his collegiate career at College of Charleston in 2026 (9 HR, 30 RBI, 32 R, 12 2B and 8 SB).
Will Waters ’23 hit .308 for Berry College during the 2026 season.
Luke Wiltrakis ’23 pitched for the University of Georgia in 2026. This summer he is playing for the Brewster Whitecaps in the Cape Cod League. Luke is transfering to Arizona State University this fall.
Royce Woodson '26 will be playing for Alabama A&M University this fall.
Trevor Zimmerman ’22 graduated from Centre College in 2026. This spring, he appeared in 2 games, striking out 3 batters.
Alumni Coaching College or Professional Baseball
Griffin Benedict ’05 was the 3rd Base Coach for the Miami Marlins during the 2024 season. Previously he was the Marlins Quality Assurance Coach (2023), the Hitting Coach for the Iowa Cubs (2021-22), Triple-A Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, and a Bullpen Coach for the San Diego Padres (2011-20). Griffin played two years of professional baseball in the Padres organization. He batted .342 during his four years at Georgia Southern University.
Paul Benoit ’15 is an assistant coach for the Dominican Summer League Cardinals (Rookie level affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals). This is his third season with the cardinals, previously serving as the hitting coach for the Palm Beach Cardinals (2025) and assistant coach for the Springfield Cardinals (2024). In June 2026, MLB featured Coach Benoit in The Cardinals coach spreading baseball around the world.
Nick Hogan ’05 is the Director of Facility Operations for the Glacier Range Riders (Pioneer Baseball League). In 2022, Nick was the Assistant General Manager and Field Manager for the Range Riders. Previously he was the head coach at Peachtree Ridge High School (2017-21), head coach at Central Gwinnett High School (2014-16) and assistant coach at Georgia State University (2009-13). Nick also coached several summers in the Sunbelt Baseball League with the Brookhaven Bucks and the Gwinnett Astros.
Jemel Spearman '99 is a scout for the Athletics. He played in the Chicago Cubs (2002-07) and Washington Nationals (2008-09) organizations, reaching Triple-A in 2008. Jemel was a member of the Georgia Southern University baseball team (2000-02), where he hit .335 over three seasons before being drafted.
