The Golden Lion baseball team defeated the Marist War Eagles tonight at Spellman Field in front of the largest crowd of the season. 

The War Eagles scored first in the 3rd inning, but the Lions would tie it up at 1 thanks to a solo home run by Easton Bailey '26 in the 5th inning. Andrew Biggers '28 would bring home JP Apgar '26 on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 6th to take a 2-1 lead that they would hold.

Starting pitcher Colton Sumpter '27 went 5 innings, allowing 5 hits and 1 unearned run. Relief pitcher Gavin Liu '26 pitched a scoreless 6th inning and closer Connor Tysver '28 earned the save with a shutout 7th. 

The two teams will meet again on Wednesday at Marist School's Jerry Queen Field. First pitch at 5:00 p.m.
