The Golden Lions defeated the Northview Titans 17-0, at Northview tonight to clinch the Region 5-AAAA Championship. 

Starting pitcher Will Freeman '25 picked up the win (4.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 SO) and relief pitcher Logan Lanier '27 closed the game out (1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO). 

The offense was powered by Nolan Newsham '27 (2-4 with 3 R, 2 RBI and 1 BB), Pete Kostopoulos '27 (2-4 with 1 R, 2 RBI and 1 2B), Wesley Ingham (2-4), Easton Bailey '26 (1-1 with 1 R, 1 RBI and 1 2B), JP Apgar '26 (1-1 with 1 R) and Aiden Portee '25 (1-1 with 1 R and 1 RBI). Additionally, Michael Dee '25 scored 3 runs and 1 stolen base, and Charles Ashe '25 had 4 runs batted in on a double, sacrifice fly and base on balls. 

The region championship is the team's first since 2022, and fifth in school history (2015, 2010 and 2001 were the first three). The Golden Lions will host the best-of-three first round of the state playoffs at Spellman Field with a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 23 and, if necessary, game 3 on Thursday, April 24.
