St. Pius X - In a game that was rescheduled to Saturday due to Hurricane Helene, the Golden Lions defeated the North Springs Spartans 42-10 at George B. Maloof Stadium. With the win, St. Pius X improves to 5-1 on the season, 4-0 in AAAA Region 5. North Springs falls to 1-5, 1-3.
Senior
Carter Kandilakis got the scoring started early, as he found the end zone on a 1 yard run just 4 minutes into the game. Seniors
Colin Crosby and
Ryan Adams then connected on a 29 yard touchdown pass. The defense wanted in on the scoring, as Senior LB
Jack Brewster picked off Miles Jackson and ran it back 55 yards for the Pick Six.Â
Things did not slow down for St. Piux X in the second quarter, as Junior
Dexter Mosley scored on a 12 yard run to the end zone. Junior
JJ Rogowski finished the first half scoring with an 11 yard touchdown run with 4:52 remaining in the half. North Springs finally got on the board with a 25 yard field goal with 9 seconds remaining. The Golden Lions found the end zone one more time in the third quarter as Senior
Blake Brown had an eight yard run. North Springs did not find the end zone until 3:03 left in the game as Miles Jackson hit Jaruis Williams for a 69 yard score.
St. Piux X ended the game with 305 total yards. As usual, the rushing game accounted for most of that as the Golden Lions rumbled for 234 yards, led by Sophomore
Aiden Francois' 73 yards.
Colin Crosby finished 3-7 in the air for 56 yards, with a TD and interception. The defense limited the Spartans to 244 total yards, and forced two interceptions on the afternoon.
The Golden Lions will return to action on Thursday, as they visit Clarkston at Hallford Stadium. Kick off will be at 7:00 PM.
