Atlanta - Tucker defeated St. Pius X Friday night on a late touchdown completion in the 4th quarter, 28-26. With the loss, the Golden Lions fall to 7-3 on the season, 6-2 in region. Pius finishes in a 3 way tie for second place in the region, but will be the #4 seed in the GHSA football playoffs.
The Golden Lions would lead 20-6 at halftime after a 1 yard run by
Cayden DeBose and a 16 yard run by
Dexter Mosley. QB
Colin Crosby added a 12 yard completion to
Carter Kandilakis. Tucker's lone score came right at the end of the half on a Joziah Horne completion.
Tucker scored the next two touchdowns, and took a 21-20 lead with 9:50 left in the game. St. Pius X would go on an 8 minute drive that resulted in a Kandilakis 6 yard touchdown run. The two point conversion failed, so the Golden Lions lead was just 6 with 1:21 to go in the game. Unfortunately, Tucker was able to drive the length of the field and scored the winning touchdown as Jayden Joyner was able to get behind the defense for a 36 yard reception.
The Golden Lions finished with 237 yards of total offense, led by 205 yards on the ground.
Cayden DeBose was the leadeing rusher with 102 yards. QB
Colin Crosby completed 4 out of his 8 passes for 32 yards.
St. Pius X will have two weeks off before traveling to Perry to start the GHSA football playoffs. Kick off wil be at 7:30 PM on November 15.
