St. Pius X - The Golden Lions put up a fight against rival and top ranked Marist on Friday night, but the War Eagles defeated St. Pius X 24-0. The loss drops the Golden Lions to 6-2 on the season, and moves them into second place in the region at 5-1. Marist remains undefeated at 7-0, 5-0.
The Pius offense had a difficult time moving the ball against the War Eagles, only amassing 94 yards for the game. Marist was only able to score on a 36 yard first quarter field goal and a late touchdown reception by Brayden Lewis in the 2nd quarter to take a 10-0 halftime lead. The War Eagles also added a third quarter touchdown run by Noah Gerrick, and and a fourth quarter touchdown run by Chris Haertel.
Marist finished with 276 yards of total offense. The leading rusher for the Golden Lions was
John Taylor with 33 yards. Quarterback
Colin Crosby was 2-5 for 17 yards.
The Golden Lions return to action on October 18 as they take on Lithonia in the last regular season home game of the season. It will also be Senior Night. Kickoff will be at 7:30 PM at George B. Maloof Stadium.
