St. Pius X - The Golden Lions easily defeated the Warner Robins Demons in a doubleheader to open the GHSA State Playoffs. Pius won the first game 15-0, and won game 2 by a score of 19-2. With the wins, the Golden Lions improve to 22-3, and currently ride a 18 game winning streak.
Game 1 saw Pius score 15 runs on 8 hits before the game was called after the 3rd inning. Sophomore
Megan Snipes had a perfect day at the plate, netting 2 singles, a triple, and 2 RBI. Junior
Maggie Laba pitched a no hitter across the three innings, striking out 7 and walking 1.
The offense continued to shine in Game 2, as the Golden Lions scored 19 runs on 11 hits. Sophomore
Maya McDaniel and Junior
Ella Hall each had two hits. Senior
Piper Grabow pitched 3 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, striking out 7.
The Golden Lions move on to the second round of the state playoffs, and will host Union Grove on October 22 for a best of 3 series. Game 1 will begin at 4:00 at Spellman Field.
