In game 3 of the best-of-three first round state playoff series, St. Pius X defeated the Northside (Columbus) Patriots 6-5 in the bottom of the 9th inning thanks to a walk-off single from Maya McDaniel '27 that scored Ella Hall '26. 

Pitcher Maggie Laba '26 pitched the complete game to earn the win (9 IP, 12 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 5 SO, 4 BB). 

Six different players had hits for the Golden Lions:

St. Pius X will travel to Kell High School to take on the Longhorns in the second round of the GHSA AAAA state playoffs on Monday, October 20th for two games. If necessary, game 3 will be on Tuesday, October 21st.
