The 2026-27 school year is Coach Schmitt's 24th year with St. Pius X. Before coming to St. Pius X, he worked with world-renowned orthopedic surgeon James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama. He has also worked preseason camps with the Atlanta Falcons. Originally from Wisconsin, Coach Schmitt earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and then moved south to earn his Master’s degree at Eastern Kentucky University. In addition to running the Sports Medicine program for St. Pius X, he serves as a medical observer for the ACC and covers all home Georgia Tech football games. Coach Schmitt, and his wife Sara Geiger Schmitt, Director of Enrollment and Head Girls Soccer Coach at St. Pius X, live in Chamblee with their daughter Marley (1).
