Coach Chad Garrison returns for his fifth year as the Head Football Coach at St. Pius X. The 2025-26 school year will mark Coach Garrison's 35th year in education and 26th year at St. Pius X. In his first four seasons leading the Golden Lions, the team has advanced to the state playoffs four times and won a region championship. Prior to becoming the head coach in 2021, he was the offensive line coach for the Golden Lions (2021-20) and has been instrumental in the team's success, including 19 consecutive playoff appearances. In 2021, he was chosen as the Region 5-5A Coach of the Year. Coach Garrison is in 23rd year as the Physical Education Department Chair and 16th as an Assistant Athletic Director. He led the Golden Lions Baseball program for six seasons (2016-21), finishing with 98 wins (3rd most in school history), a 5A semifinals appearance and #3 final ranking for the 2021 season. In the spring of 2024, he coached the JV Baseball team. Coach Garrison served as the Head Track & Field Coach for six seasons (2006-11), winning the Boys and Girls State Championship in 2006, finishing State Runner-Up twice, and winning multiple region championships. He was named the Track & Field Coach of the year by the Atlanta Track Club and the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Coach Garrison grew up in DeKalb County, graduating from Redan High School where he played soccer, football and wrestled. He graduated from North Georgia College in 1990 and previously taught and coached at Campbell High School and The Lovett School. He and his wife of 36 years, Barbara, have three children: Kelci (SPX '09), Mackenzie (SPX '13), and Brennan (SPX '16).
