DECATUR - To some, it must have looked like any other game on an incredibly busy sporting weekend. For basketball fans, it was much more: #1 University of Chicago facing #7 Emory University - who had been ranked #1 in NCAA Division III the week before - until Chicago beat them.
But to the St. Pius X community, it meant the world.
The weekend featured FIVE Golden Lion family members all in one building
- Jason Zimmerman - Emory men's basketball head coach - husband to SPX Athletic Administrator Traci Zimmerman, whose children Trevor '22 and Taylor '24 graduated from St. Pius X.
- Mak Krause - Emory men's assistant basketball coach - 2014 graduate of St. Pius X
- Misha Jackson - Emory women's head basketball coach - 2009 graduate of St. Pius X
- Liam Mullins - current Emory men's basketball player - 2024 graduate of St. Pius X
- Eamonn Kenah - current University of Chicago basketball player - 2022 graduate of St. Pius X
It's no surprise then, that the Sunday afternoon boys game drew about 30 Pius people alone.

Joe McCurdy led a roundtable with the Fab Five, and discussed what Pius meant to them, how to deal with the pressure of winning, as well as sharing a favorite memory from their time at PiHi.
