Golden Lions Come Up Short vs. BT

The Golden Lions lost 11-8 to the Blessed Trinity Titans at Spellman Field.

Three Golden Lions had multiple hits in the game: Regan Waters '26 (3-4, 3 RBI, 1 R), Ella Hall '26 (2-3, 1 RBI, 3 R, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 1 SB) and Madeline Kapp '27 (2-4, 1 RBI, 1 R).

Before the game, St. Pius X alumna Beth Adams Spak '96 (assistant softball coach for Blessed Trinity), threw out the ceremonial first pitch. Spak was a standout softball player for the Golden Lions, helping the team to win the 1995 state championship. Spak, along with Jan Podhorez O'Donnell '98, will be the first two softball players to be inducted into the St. Pius X Athletic Hall of Fame in October.

The game was part of the annual Pink Out, which honors two St. Pius X coaches who lost their battles with cancer - Margaret Gilbert, a former swimming and diving coach who passed away in 2009, and Matt McIntyre, a former softball coach (2012-13) who passed away 2014.

Proceeds from ticket sales, silent auction, raffles and concessions from the tournament support the Margaret Gilbert Scholarship Fund, awarded to students who exhibit a strong commitment to faith, family, and school.

Blessed Trinity, Chamblee and St. Pius X competed in today's round robin.
