St. Pius X Catholic High School (GA)

 With a resume that includes the 2009 NSCAA National Title, NINE state championships  and three runner-ups, Coach Sara Geiger Schmitt will enjoy her 19th year as St. Pius X Catholic High School women’s head soccer coach. The 9-time GHSA Coach of the Year also serves as Director of Enrollment, as well as Assistant Athletic Director. For her leadership of that 22-0 team in 2009 (147 goals for, 6 goals against), Schmitt was named Regional Coach of the Year by the NSCAA - a crown she earned again in 2011 and 2016. During the most recent 2025 season, Schmitt won her 300th game at St. Pius, putting her in very elite company, both locally and nationally. (W 301, L 68, D 19 in 18 seasons)

After teaching in the math department for 12 years, Schmitt joined the Physical Education department in 2019. Previous to St. Pius, Schmitt played four years of Division I soccer for the Samford Bulldogs in Birmingham, Alabama. Coach Schmitt is the oldest of four siblings and is married to Gary Schmitt, the head Athletic Trainer at St. Pius. They have one daughter, Marley Rose, and reside in Chamblee. All three Schmitts eat, sleep and breathe Golden Lions sports!
