MARIETTA - Golden Lion senior D'Marley Elliott is in a class of his own. The forward grabbed his school program record 679th rebound in Friday's 66-56 win at Walton, a game that featured two of the top teams in the state.
Elliott, who has played varsity basketball for four seasons, had previously reached the 600 rebound mark just six games into this campaign with a win over Darlington at Rome.
Just two games after setting the program rebound mark, the 6'6'' player scored his 1,000th career point as a Golden Lion, in a big win over North Springs.
This season has been remarkable for the SPX boys team - not only are the squad 18-0 for the first time in school history, but prior to Elliot's rebound record, his teammate Harris Reynolds set the school program single-game mark with 42 points in a region victory at Tucker.
